The Maverick of Hypocrisy

Well it appears that “The Maverick” has lost his “maverickness”. Sen. John McCain has repeatedly laid out his standards for the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and then when those standards are met, he quickly changes those very same standards. I have refrained from speaking about this over the past few days because I wanted to offer a clear analysis that didn’t rest the sole premise of the argument over Sen. McCain’s actions on his own blatant bigotry.

After long, thoughtful conversations with friends and family, after reading the opinions of pundits from the New York Times, The LA Times, The Washington Post, and The Chicago Tribune (to name a few), after pondering the meaning of John McCain’s actions and words, I have found nothing. I thought that perhaps his primary challenge from J. D. Hayworth may have persuaded him to govern in a more conservative manner, and yet Sen. McCain’s flip-flopping goes far beyond the past two years and was quite evident during the 2008 campaign.

Thus I can only conclude that the homophobic Vietnam War veteran is simply a homophobe. He is the same as George W. Bush, Christine O’Donnell, Sharron Angel, Joe Miller, or Louie Gohmert. Even with 78 percent of Americans supporting the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Conservative politicians haven’t gotten the message. This seems strange to me since they claim to be “in touch” with the real America. Well, I guess this is just another example of how delusional conservatives truly are.
